Trucks that drive themselves? You read that right. Uber and Waymo, Google’s autonomous
vehicle unit, announced that they are working together to put freight trucks on the roads of the
United States.

Due to the long distances between cities in that country, the two companies see autonomous
driving as an alternative to cut costs and minimize risks in the cargo transport sector, which is
key to the economy.

Waymo will allow its technology to intertwine with an Uber freight platform, connecting truckers
to shipments in a new way for users to schedule freight in mobile apps.
